On the 23rd May 2019, North Coast Community Transport (NCCT) held their 2019 AGM in the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine.  The AGM was attended by a variety of individuals involved within the organisation including, staff, volunteers and service users.  Chairperson Mrs Thelma Dillon opened the AGM by welcoming attendees in particular Denise Hayward, CEO of Volunteer Now.  Thelma continued by summarising both the achievements and challenges throughout the stating “Each year brings new challenges to any organisation and this has been especially so in recent years. However with careful management and planning so far nothing has been insurmountable.  It gives me great pleasure to report another successful year for our Company with a rise in membership, passenger trips and therefore the mileage covered by our minibuses and volunteer car drivers has risen substantially.”

Manager of the project, Mr Billy Moore then presented his Annual report beginning with the aims of NCCT and a detailed presentation on the work and operational activities of NCCT delivered throughout the Causeway Coast & Glens council area and the Ballymena area of Mid and East Antrim.  Billy mentioned the disappointing end to the 3 year SIF funding in August which many members found invaluable especially for hospital appointments.  Billy concluded his report by thanking the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers but a special mention to the funders Department for Infrastructure, Department of Environment, Agriculture and Rural Affairs and The Executive Office, who have supported the charity throughout the year.

Further to the Managers Report, special guest Denise Hayward of Volunteer Now was invited to present the organisation with their Investors In Volunteers Award highlighting the recognition by NCCT on the importance and standard of care invested into their volunteers and how apparent it is that NCCT appreciate the value each volunteer brings to the delivery of their service.  Chairperson Thelma Dillon commented ‘It gives us a great sense of pride and achievement to obtain this award and know that our volunteers are making a huge difference in the community, without them we simply couldn’t deliver our service’

It was an enjoyable event and all attended agreed that it was satisfying to hear all the positive and wonderful things accomplished throughout the year and everyone looking forward to another great year ahead.
